Snowshoeing in 2018 getting better

Snowshoeing in Kosovo both in Rugova and Sharr mountains is making it’s mark. With a Polish group snowshoeing for three days in December 2017 and January 2018 the start was very good. Currently new groups book every weekend making it more popular. For those living in Prishtina its the best escape from what sometimes looks like the most polluted city in the world.

The Rugova mountains offer incredible conditions for daily and weekend tours. With almost no ski infrastructure, after an hour of walk you are out into the wild nature. Trails go through parts of the mountain that have zero avalanche risk, and offer open views of the Rugova mountains. Simultaneously you will be walking next to the woods experiencing the winter magic. Keeping it all safe in proximity of the village.

Some more difficult trails go through Peaks of the Balkans rout, and some mountain peaks can be climbed on request. If you are motivated enough our guides can take you to higher peaks such as Gjeravica or Cfrla.  For winter climb these tours include a sleepover in a small hotel or a cabin. For special trails contact us and we will make the itinerary together.

We are ready

Balkan Natural Adventure got ready for this promising season of snowshoeing in Kosovo. The company has invested in the latest model of snowshoes produced in France by Inook, TSL made in Italy poles and gaiters, in order to make the set complete. We believe we have come a long way since last season when we were offering only snowshoes. The European Union is also responsible for the top of the shelf equipment by covering part of the cost.

Additionally, we have upgraded our food offer. Together with our partners in the mountains, we have packed goat cheese from Valbona Northern Albania in olive oil; blueberries from Rugova; ajvar from Nol’s house; herbal bio teas from all over Kosovo, and wild mushrooms: Porcini and morchella. In your snowshoeing tour you can order what we call BNA snack, which consists of home made corn bread, goat cheese, ajvar and blueberries.
