Religious patrimony of Kosovo is unique. The country is a mix of religions, cultures and temples. While the orthodox churches are considered as the most beautiful of their kind, mosques compete with architecture designed by best of their time including Sinan, who has designed the larges mosque of Istanbul. A visit in Kosovo is worth maybe just for this.

Western Kosovo is home to Patriarch in Peja (1346-1463), Monastery of Decan (1335), Hadumi Mosque (1594) in Gjakova with best acoustics of their time enabled by small pin-halls, Qashi Mosque in Peja (1462), and Sinan Pasha Mosque in Prizren (1615). On your way you can also satisfy your curiosity with the biggest Shia monument in the region the newly constructed Teke in Junik, or the very modest Qoku Mosque, considered as the first one build in Kosovo.

The mix of cultures and religions in such a small place is quite a unique experience. What makes Kosovo even more interesting is that the country has been hit by wars way to often and people of this part of the world have succeeded to save these monuments that talk of peace and war.
