November 14, 2017 Peaks of the Balkans in November

A German client hiked parts of Peaks of the Balkans and Via Dinarica trail, in November with some snow over the mountains. Our guide Adriatik Gacaferi planned the trip which went from Reka e Allages, through the mountains to reach the Mountains of Deçan the Zllanopoja, region. The whole trip was in Kosovo side of the Accursed Mountains. From reka e Allages the first hike of some 15 kilometers included Hajla e Keçe, the Fatos Lajci guest house and down at Drelaj, to be hosted by the Shala Family. Day two included the hike through Liqenat and two glacial Lakes, through Shkodra Pass which in Peaks of the Balkans trail is used to go to Babino Polje, Montenegro. However this time the trails went through the Peak of Leqinak (Maja Leqinakut, 2472) meters, to end in Zllanopoja. As at this time of the year the guest house is closed, our guide took care ti make a deal with the owner in order to use the facilities. Third day included return to Peja and climbing two Via Ferrata. This is a short trip designed with the client based on his availability and physical conditions. Balkan Natural Adventure, treats every group and […]

  • November 6, 2017 Climbing the piribreg in Sharr, by Vivianne Rau

My friend and I, two travelers in Kosovo, had the pleasure of enjoying an unforgettable day with not one, but three tour guides of the Balkan Natural Adventure team in the Sharri National Park. Adriatik, Nol and Marigona are super nice and experienced hiking guides and also the snow could not dissuade us to climb the top of the Maja Piri Bregut at 2524 meters. The three picked us up from our accommodation in Prizren in the morning and we drove together to Brezovica, a famous ski resort in Kosovo. On our way there, we could already envision the beauty of the mountains and breathtaking snow-capped mountain peaks. Arriving in Brezovica, we started our day tour at 1700 meters altitude. Equipped with snowshoes, hiking sticks, and a positive attitude, we started the climb. At the beginning of the trail, the snow was just covering the ground. However, the higher we went, the deeper the snow became. We were glad to be walking with our guides, as the trail markings through the snow were not always visible. Adriatik explained the stunning landscape to us and which mountains were passing in front of us. At any time, we were surrounded by postcard-like […]

August 28, 2017 Via Dinarica Kosovo a 4 day hike

Hiking through Rugova and Decani mountains Liqunat – Zllanopoje – Bjeshka Belegut – Doberdol with Gjeravica on the top with Balkan Natural Adventure Adriatik Gacaferi We went from Liqunat to Gjeravica in Kosovo, with a stop in Doberdol Albania to experience the last remote places in Europe. The group — a British father and son with military background — is just perfect clients, who become more like friends and family during the hike. The voyage that starts in Peja is part of a promoted mega trail called Via Dinarica. This trail goes through Kosovo, while it starts in Northern Italy and ends in Greece. Contrary to some promotion done by donors the trail is empty from tourists which makes the whole experience unique. The great panoramas open as God hath created them with no people in it. On the first day the Hike started in Rugova mountains, passed through two glacial lakes to arrive in the village of Zllanopoja. Thats where the stop is made at Zeka Guest house. Zeka is a native of these mountains, who also runs a fast food restaurant in Peja city and a bio guest house in the mountains. Zeka built his guest house where […]

August 22, 2017 Hajla climb in a foggy day

Balkan N. Adventure Hajla in a foggy day is not bad at all, actually it is very nice, with a guide like Adnan its pretty cool. Our clients from Switzerland chose the two day Hajla climb from the guest house of Mustafe Nikci  where they had traditional dinner, breakfast and a takeaway lunch to eat while in the mountain. After the booking was agreed the clients came in the afternoon at the guest house to meet the guide and start the adventure. After a 40 minutes ride they met with the host at the guest house and were introduced with the traditional diner, dominated by dairy products meat and bread. Nafije Nikci is a very good cook as her cooking is never monotonous with several dishes always there for tasting. The dinner served and up to sleep for the hike tomorrow. The weather was not the best in the world, however as the Norwegians say there is no bad weather, there is just inappropriate clothing. Thanks to the guide the fog was not a problem and the trail was clear, in the middle of the day top of the Hajla 2503. The 360 degree view was substituted with a mistique […]
