Hiking in Sharr Mountains

Spanning from central Kosovo to the southern border with Macedonia, the Sharr Mountain offer some of Kosovo’s most beautiful hiking routes. Slightly more rounded than the Accursed Mountains that form Kosovo’s western border with Montenegro, the Sharr Mountains are home to a diverse array of flora and fauna and a wealth of 2500+ meter peaks to explore.
Balkan Natural Adventure offers hiking tours near the Brezovica ski center and also from the village of Brod near the Macedonian border. Upon request, we can also organize trips to either the Macedonian or Albanian side of  Mount Korab, which is the highest mountain in the region (2,764 m).

Brezovica Hike:
Leave Prishtina by 7:15 to reach Brezovica at 9:00. We will begin the hike from Hotel Bucan (elevation 1600 meters) and gain over 900 meters in elevation before reaching the summit of Guri Zi (2536 meters). The hike takes approximately six to eight hours, including a stop for your takeawat lunch.

Brod Hike:
Leave from Prishtina by 7:00 to reach Dragash around 9:15. We will begin the hike from Hotel Arxhena and gain elevation to reach the summit of Vraca e Madhe (2582 meters).
The six to eight hour hike will take you in a loop back to the hotel. On your way back, you will have an excellent view of Mt. Korab, the region’s highest mountain, which forms the border between Kosovo, Macedonia, and Albania.
