No serious mountaineer can leave Kosovo without claiming its biggest prize: the 2,656- meter peak of Gjeravica. Located above the western village of Junik, the mountain is Kosovo’s highest and the second highest in the Albanian Alps. This intense and rewarding hike generally takes around 8 hours and is recommended for big groups. We will start in Junik the afternoon of the first day when you will drive to the Hotel Grand Gjeravica. The accommodation in the village of Qershiza is organised in double rooms with private bathroom.
We will start early the next morning after breakfast and continue our ascent past some breathtaking panoramic views of the Accursed Mountains. Along the way, we will also discover the source of the Ereniku River, which begins in two glacial lakes near the peak. The lakes are populated with trout that can be fished by permit only. Following the hike, we will return you to Junik.
